Heel & toe taps are Birkenstock's answer for people who are hard on the heels (or toes) of their sandals/shoes... They are made of a dense material that wears far better than the original EVA soling material that comes on most of their sandals. They are INLAID into the soles, they DO NOT raise the heel and DO NOT make the heel higher. They are flush with the sole, you hardly know they are there. But because they are a denser material, they wear far longer than the original sole material. We have been putting them on for years, everyone has been very happy with them... In short, they work great!!
